I recently watched an episode of "Switched at Birth’ and all of a sudden Elyse Keaton (Family Ties) enters as ‘The Grandmother’ and I was ooooo yay love her, and then she was a racist meany pants and I was devastated. I was so cranky that Elyse was not Elyse in another show and it made me realise that I have done that fairly often in other shows. I remember getting excited when Alex also from Family Ties became Deputy Mayor of New York in Spin City because that just seemed right, he got to be in politics and be important, but he was the nicer guy we knew he always could be.
Then when Theo Huxtable (The Cosby Show) was a well spoken, suave and so talented surgeon in The Resident I was so proud of him getting through his learning issues etc (I am serious this was how my mind worked on that…I didn’t even know what Dyslexia was until it was a whole arc for Theo and taught the world something important). I watch a lot of TV and I do know they are not the same characters, but there is that moment, that you can just feel that connection with them based off of a whole other show. Anyone else do that, and if so I would love examples :)
