I’ve never been one to really be interested in the medical drama genre, but I found myself really captivated by The Pitt recently. The combination of character drama and competency porn just clicked for me right away.
Afterwards, I’ve been wondering whether anything similar to MASH has come along since and whether it could be successful today. I can’t really think of examples of medical dramas that put a spotlight on military medical professionals, and MASH was long before my time.
Everything the past couple of decades seems to be so focused on the combat experience, or the ultra-cool special forces types. I’m surprised there doesn’t seem to be much that explores war in a setting like a military hospital etc.
