WE’RE GOING THROUGH EACH P4 TEAM’S SCHEDULE AND PICKING EVERY GAME!

Today we have the Florida State Seminoles!

2023 is what success in the transfer portal looks like, while 2024 is about as far away from that as you can get. All of the good faith Mike Norvell built up evaporated immediately in Dublin.

2025 will be round 3 in the portal for Norvell and he has hung his job on the services of Boston College transfer QB Tommy Castellanos. He is banking on his skillset marrying well with new OC Gus Malzahn’s offense, which could work, but we are less than a year removed from a team of hired guns completely quitting on Norvell.

The offense is loaded up with promising transfers, but the defense is able to return 5 starters, so maybe the continuity on that side of the ball will buy the offense some time to get going. Regardless, it feels like a real “we’ll see” situation in Tallahassee right now.

As ACC schedules go, this one has to be on the harder side. FSU Gets Miami and Clemson, and also bookends the season with top half SEC teams.

This strikes me as a team that is not really capable of of pulling off a dramatic upset. I think they will be definitively better than the middle of the ACC, but still a step behind the conference contenders.

Losses against Bama, at Clemson, and at Florida are pretty easy to pick assuming injuries don’t play a significant factor, so the questions is how much of a game can they give Miami at home, and can they avoid dropping games to lesser teams.

I have my eyes on the 2 weeks sandwiched between trips to Clemson and Florida. If the Hokies are fighting for bowl eligibility, they’ll bring everything the have, and the same goes for an NC State team that could fancy an ACC title game push if everything goes right. Go 2-0 in these 2 games, and I think Norvell will have no trouble getting this team over their win total and grabbing 8 wins. 7 seems more likely than 9, but I like the over either way you slice it.

FINAL: 8-4 (6-2)

TOTAL: 6.5
