OU has had two main eras of football, the Wishbone offense and the Air Raid. I think OU is flexible enough as a program to keep adapting its offenses, so I would be okay with keeping up with the evolution of the game. A big, physical defense is when OU is at their best, especially with exotic schemes, so I think that BV is at least keeping up with tradition on that side of the ball.
But… looking at other schools, their style of football is synonymous with the brand itself. For example, Wisconsin should only be a run-heavy team with country boys as their O-linemen. Iowa needs to have spectacular special teams and defense, or else it just feels off. Texas Tech needs to have a flashy offense, if it’s Air Raid, then that’s even better.
