Shawnee State will be filling in a fairly empty region in CFB southeastern Ohio while also increasing their overall athletic commitment by moving up from NAIA to D2. This is also a good add by the Mountain East to add another regional school but expand into a new state and a new area where many of the schools (especially in the western half) already target in recruiting. Shawnee State will be joining Rio Grande in bringing Non-FBS scholarship football to the region in coming years.
