Last year, Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders (4,134 yards), TCU’s Josh Hoover (3,949 yards), Iowa State’s Rocco Becht (3,505 yards), Texas Tech’s Behren Morton (3,335 yards), and Baylor’s Sawyer Robertson (3,071 yards) were the top 5 passing yards leaders in the conference. All of them except for Sanders will be back this year.
However Sam Leavitt, despite being only 7th in passing yards, ultimately got Arizona State further than all the other teams by virtue of the Sun Devils winning the Big 12 title and reaching the College Football Playoff where they lost 39–31 in double overtime in one of the greatest Peach Bowls in college football history. Plus this was his first year starting too. He also returns this year.
Who do you think will be the best? Will Rocco Becht regress without Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel to throw to (Same with Josh Hoover losing his top WR target Jack Bech)? Will Sam Leavitt take a leap in Year 2? Can Sawyer Robertson help Baylor ascend back to the top of the Big 12 like they were 4 years ago?
Gonna be an interesting year in the Big 12 for sure. I predict the Top 5 QB’s in the conference will be: 1. Sam Leavitt, 2. Rocco Becht, 3. Sawyer Robertson, 4. Josh Hoover, and 5. Behren Morton
