I recently watched “Rectify” and by god it was a tough watch. As a piece of media it has affected me more than anything I’ve seen in a long-long while. I say this because as a lawyer I have become so used to crime/violence and how its recieved and portrayed in media and society that a sort of immunity has built up in me regarding it.
But how the show demonstrates the flaws of our society, criminal justice system and the perversity of people in power, it sort of strips of the blinders one has put on to avoid seeing the macabre shitshow our justice system is.
Just a great show which has now sent me into a weird zone. I’m curious if any other series has had such a powerful and unsettling effect on you.
