As ladies, most of us have at least one horror story of a date that went horribly wrong. But have you ever been that person who your date is probably cringeing at remembering & telling their new partner about while laughing?

I have! I’m a bisexual woman, and for some reason I tend to do fine on dates with men. Dates with women…not so much. I have no idea why. Maybe it’s the nervousness. But I was just very bad with women.

When I was freshly 18 & very excited about being able to legally drink in my country, I went out to a gay bar. Had a great time. EXCEPT…I saw a girl at the bar dancing, she pulled me up & we danced together. We then realized we were actually classmates back in school! She invited me to continue drinking & talking at a quieter bar, so we did. I didn’t realize this was a “I’m interested in you & want to continue getting to know you” situation…this poor girl kept trying to keep conversation going with me, and I kept ordering more drinks! She started nervously laughing & saying “no more for me thanks I’m fine” but I still did not pick up the cue. I’m not sure what was wrong with me, I think I was just very nervous. Obviously I’m getting drunk, & I keep repeating “yknow, we TOTALLY should’ve talked more in school”. I’m also just talking a bunch of stupid incoherent shit. She’s uncomfortable, tells me I’d better get home, and shoves me in a taxi. While we were waiting on the taxi I literally laid down on the ground in the street because I was so drunk. I realize the next morning how badly I’d embarrassed myself, & messaged her asking if she got home alright. She just replied “yes I did” and that was it. FML.

Another time about a year later, a very sweet girl asks me to go to a pride parade with her…I do…but I also ask if I can bring MY FUCKING EX BOYFRIEND. She had an amazing amount of patience because not only did she allow that, but she followed us around too, trying her best. My ex boyfriend was autistic & beginning to melt down from the noise & people so I had to take him home, just leaving her there. Needless to say she never talked to me again. I kinda still kick myself for this one because she was lovely. Jade if you’re reading this, I was an asshole, I don’t know what’s wrong with me and I’m sorry.

I’m 24 now, with a family of my own. But oh god these memories haunt me sometimes.
