How much cheating really went on in college football prior to the introduction of NIL? By cheating I mean recruitment…like we heard Cam Newton supposedly got $250k in a pay-for-play deal, and something about McDonald’s bags of cash at Tennessee, etc… Perhaps coaches at big-time programs felt that it was necessary to cheat just to stay competitive…how rampant was it really? I feel like it probably happened routinely all across the power 5 board…can anyone cite historical examples that came to light?
