While I understand that Vandy has played 1 more game thus far, as far as I can tell this is the first time in nearly 40 years where Bama is underneath Vandy on the SEC charts by win percentage throughout a week during the season. Even during the early 2000s when Alabama was inconsistently floundering, they always had the better record.

1984 was also the last year Vanderbilt beat Alabama. The Commodores maintained their record lead over the Tide throughout the remainder of that season. It happened occasionally for a game or two in the seasons leading up to that but has not occurred since.

If this post gains enough interest I may sit down for an hour or so to 100% confirm this, as well as to see how frequently/infrequently it occurred before this.
