A physicist whose monitoring high solar activity has a transmission sent to his lab. It’s eight seemingly random timestamped images that hint towards a disaster that’s just hours away. This isn’t an entirely original premise. Shows like Early Edition, Tru Calling or Person of Interest have a somewhat similar hook.
I think the ticking clock aspect adds a level of tension to the proceedings here. The amount of time they have to work with isn’t the same each time. It can be twelve hours or sometimes significantly shorter. Occasionally the number of images change as well.
There’s some exploration into where the images come from. The show only lasted 5 episodes so it never came to fruition. There were a couple of interesting possibilities presented though.
I was surprised to find out it wasn’t particularly well received in the UK. The characters were good I thought & I appreciated them briefly delving into the effects knowing these things had on them. It’s absolutely a storytelling device I’d like to see someone else take another crack at.
