After beating Virginia 36-35, James Madison has taken possession of the Virginia Belt. This is actually the second time James Madison has held the belt, they first took it in 2010 while still in the FCS. They successfully defended the belt once before losing it to Richmond later in the season. Virginia took the belt from Old Dominion last year and did not successfully defend it. They would have had the chance to defend it against Virginia Tech during their rivalry game if it had not been cancelled.
