Just watched the first few episodes of Stick on Apple TV+ and can’t shake how similar it feels to Cobra Kai. You’ve got the washed up white guy (former golf pro instead of karate champ) mentoring a Latino kid from a single-parent household. The kid has raw talent, the mentor’s chasing redemption, there’s a big cultural gap, and the whole underdog sports vibe is really familiar.
Not saying it’s a ripoff, but the character dynamics and structure are surprisingly close. Anyone else notice this? Think it’s a trend, a nod to Cobra Kai, or just coincidence?
