Melee A Trois is when three or more factions are actively fighting against each other.
Ever since I played Hyrule Warriors (which was my first Dynasty Warriors game), I really liked it when another enemy faction showed up on the battlefield, fighting against both me and my enemy.
Melee A Trois to me is fun because when multiple factions have different goals, it’s fun to watch them actively fight and sabotage each other. Sometimes, even a big enemy faction will have a civil war with itself when different members have different motives, leading to them breaking off and fighting each other.
An example of Melee A Trois in television is when in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, there was an episode where Buffy faced off against a cowboy vampire, but also the mind-controlled civilians being controlled by some weird underground monster. All three factions actively made attacks on each other. It’s not my favorite Melee A Trois moment by the way, this is just an example
