I’m on vacation this week. I didn’t know a single person. But I’ve had so many small but wonderful encounters with women and realised this is kind of what happens every time I go somewhere and man, I love women.

There was the mother daughter duo who owned the hotel I stayed at and spent a good chunk one morning celebrating that I’d completed the hikes I set out to do, sharing mushroom hunting tips and just being so wonderful and supporting.

There was the lady at the spa, who teamed up with me to go to different saunas and brave the ice cold pool in a place that’s inherently vulnerable, since European spas are typically textile free and filled with many more men than women.

There was the most amazing old lady by the road side making decorations from the local flowers, who let me sit in the shade with her and chatted with me while she made me a flower wreath, even though she’d only done one of these before in her life. I’m still not over how amazingly generous that was of her, and how much I enjoyed this end to my hike that day.

There were the two women at the gas station who fawned over the wreath and included me in their shenanigans for the two minutes I was in there.

There was the old woman, who also stopped at the same intersection, mumbled something to herself which I replied to and we just shared a smile and a wink and well wishes before both moving on.

And there will be my tattoo artist tomorrow, who I bought a little bouquet for at the market today because she’s my home away from home.

Every time I have these interactions, I grow as a person and get to reflect this sunshine into the world and I am just bursting with love for women.
