In the 90s and early 2000s having cable was a given. Flipping through channels until something caught your interest. When I am in the mood to watch something and “veg out”, in the Before time we would flip through channels until something caught our interest and we would watch it. Be it a new show, a familiar rerun, or a movie.
Now I find myself spending a ton of effort trying to figure out what might be worth watching and deciphering how to watch it on what platform, that I just give up and end up watching some stupid brain rot shit on youtube. I am sure I have missed out on many TV series and movies that I would have absolutely loved, because I no longer get to “channel surf” until I find something that captivates me, and instead have to do a bunch of a research on IMDB / reddit / youtube before deciding if something is worth my limited time and just give up.
I miss channel surfing, I miss relevant move trailers in movie theatres, media consumption has become so overwhelming compared to the before time.
