For us I think the biggest example of that we’ve had in recent memory was Cardale Jones in 2015. Trying to turn him into an RPO QB like J.T. Barrett was just didn’t work (and feeding him to Tim Beck and Ed Warinner didn’t help matters). Cardale is one of those players where I’d love to see what he could’ve done in a Ryan Day offense that was more pro style-oriented.

A more recent example is Baron Browning. 5-star recruit at LB who was expected to be great but really should’ve moved to DE towards the end of his career (like C.J. Hicks is doing now) instead of the coaches insisting on him being an off-the-ball LB (he’s lasted in the NFL as a pass rusher which was not how Ohio State used him). Him being used like a Micah Parsons or Abdul Carter could’ve significantly improved his draft stock.
