Why do all the commercial TV channels have their ad breaks at EXACTLY the same time?

I can’t stand tv advertisements, but unless I’m watching a BBC channel, the ad breaks on ALL channels are on at exactly the same time. I can’t flick from one channel to another without hitting yet another ad . Frustrating
