The 2007 video posted yesterday got me thinking about the Cal team we lost to that season. They would ride it and a big win over Oregon to a 5-0 start and the brink of a #1 ranking, before losing to unranked Oregon St. at home after a botched final drive. That loss promptly bottomed out their season and by mid-November they were unranked.

Of course, I have to mention my 2016 Vols. We all hoped it was going to be the breakthrough season under Butch. Started 5-0, finally beat Florida, miraculously beat Georgia in Athens. Then let a win over A&M in College Station get away from us. Injuries riddled the team and they were no match for Bama. But the choke came in Columbia, losing to Muschump and then our top RB left the team that following Monday. Still had a shot at the Sugar Bowl, but that died in Nashville with a horrible loss to Vandy. It all led to the disastrous 2017 season which would be the worst in program history.

What, in your opinion, was the greatest single season collapse in college football?
