I will probably get hate for this. But I come in peace. I just feel like I’m missing something.
This is about The Americans Fx show. Before I proceed. I would like to say that i’m only on season 2. And that I am liking the show.
With that I aside. I found myself Undeewhelmed with this show. I have seen quite many shows (over 400 shows) because I love TV that much. So eventually as you watch that much shows. U will start watching unknown or not well marketed shows that are highly regarded.
People said all sorts of things about The Americans. How elite it is. That its up there with Mad men and The Sopranos (there’s an article) and all that sort of acclaim…
So I decided to watch it. But so far from what I have seen was so Underwhelming. There’s nothing really impressive about it.
The dialogue is not impressive it just gets the job done. The cinematography is my least favorite thing about the show. The main leads are the only redeeming quality of the show. And yet its not something that keeps me up at night. There’s literally nothing truly impressive rather than the surprisingly great choreography. The plot and story is cliche and isn’t ground breaking whatsever. Its predictable so far. I have seen so many shows like it. With similar plot lines maybe thats why this doesnt phase me.
The acting is good yes and the choreography but everything else just gets the job done. I was expecting something mind blowing or something with all the acclaimed it got but I got Undeewhelmed instead.
So is season 3 or 4 where things changes ?/or is it one of those shows where I have to watch up to the final season to judge it’s entirety? Where does it pick up?
I hope I did not offend anyone. This isn’t a hate post. I’m genuinely curious. I feel like I am probably not understanding something.
Thanks for reading.
