I posted a similar post r/trueunpopularopinion, but don’t know how to cross-post. Anyhow:
Men should take ownership of their gender’s wellbeing themselves: turn to other men and don’t blame women for lack of attention or care.
Men oftentimes point out their loneliness, the lack of attention they get for their mental struggles, the lack of compliments they get, and point out the high rates of suicidality among men. And then they compare these numbers to women, and conclude women are doing better.
I don’t argue with these statistics or conclusions, but what annoys me and also worries me is that women are also implicitly supposed to solve those problems. No! You should support each other and don’t expect a woman to be your teacher or even therapist.
“I’m lonely, no women wants to hang out with me.” Well, why don’t you hang out with male friends?
“I’m suicidal, but women don’t seem to care”, well buddy, women make up the large majority of caretakers in male domestic violence centers, suicide helplines and psychological and psychiatric care. Maybe you should ask around why your male friends don’t care, because women are the ones taking care of you.
“I never get compliments, but when I do I am so happy”. And this always refers to a women giving a compliment. Why don’t you give each other compliments?
WOMEN are the ones who raise and teach your kids in school, including your sons. If you don’t like that or think that has a bad influence, why don’t you step up and become a teacher?
Men should step up and take ownership for their problems and how they are raised, just like women do.
Edit: I should have said not “solely responsible”, because I think we are responsible for each other’s wellbeing. But now, the burden of solving the men’s mental health crises seems to be unequally placed on women. Which is ridiculous but also unrealistic.
