This is not a criticism of the pandemic. And I am not here to argue about masks or vaccination or anything else. This is a criticism of the government.
With students returning to schools now, there has been a big spike in COVID-19 cases. All through 2020 and first half of 2021, if my son sat next to a student who had COVID-19, we got a call from the school, and he had to go home and not come back for 10 days. Or if he had a negative COVID test, he could go back.
Well, with the 2021-2022 school year upon us, a lot of kids are facing possible exposure. And the new guidance from the CDC is that you can return to school after you have been exposed as long as your school has a mask mandate.
I have a feeling this new guideline has more to do with throwing schools a carrot to get them to impose mask mandates rather than any science that shows the CDC that masks offer a level of protection that was just discovered.
It's the same with mask mandates for the vaccinated. Faucci argued that the vaccinated need to wear masks to stop the spread of variants. And about a month later, the CDC comes out and says that the vaccinated no longer need to wear masks. This is obviously throwing the public a bone to get to get vaccinated and doesn't have any hard science behind it.
