The series inspired the movie Cinema Verite, which starred Diane Lane, Tim Robbins, James Gandolfini and Patrick Fugit in 1971.
It also inspired the (hilarious) mocumentary by Albert Brooks called Real Life, which starred Charles Grodin and Harry Shearer in 1979.
It was an amazing series, and I actually watched it in real time.
