This happened at the Louisiana State Capitol on April 23, 2025. I’m a disabled Navy veteran and longtime advocate for medical cannabis and government transparency. I was peacefully recording a public legislative hearing—a right protected under Louisiana’s Open Meetings Law—when the Sergeant-at-Arms grabbed my camera and tried to rip it out of my hands.
