I’m convinced that the redpill guy saying of “if you want to catch a lot of fish, you don’t listen to the fish, you listen to a fishermen” isn’t just a tasteless proverb used to explain why, when it comes to understanding women, they’d much rather listen to overt misogynists who don’t understand women over actual women. I think it exposes exactly how they view men vs. women.
- Men are equals, they’re fellow fishermen, humans.
- Women are a lesser creature that is seen as prey.
- As prey, they don’t want to be caught, but the fishermen doesn’t care, fish don’t get a say in the matter.
- Because these fish don’t want to be caught, any advice they give you on catching them cannot be trusted, it’s probably bullshit.
- The fishermen are completely justified in using methods like baiting, trapping, etc. the fish to circumvent their desire to not be caught.
I doubt a lot of these guys are conscious of exactly what they’re communicating or are conscious of the fact this is a very skewed way to view gender relations, dating, etc., I’m sure it’s mostly deeply ingrained unconscious biases they’ve been socialized to develop under patriarchy
but the fact they heard someone say this and believed “Yeah that makes perfect sense, that is how shit works” is enough to tell you how they see the world.
