Piggybacking off the discussion from yesterday about defensive coordinators. Who was it for your team? For us it was Bill Cockhill who was under Joe Glenn during the 2000’s. The first few years they were able to take advantage of the talent left over from the previous coach (Vic Koenning), but then it was a steady downhill decline after that.
Here’s the stats as far as points per game during that era.
2003-23.8 PPG
2004-26.5 PPG
2005-24.6 PPG
2006-21.5 PPG
2007 19.4 PPG (13th worst in FBS)
Cockhill was fired after the 2007 season but the damage from his legacy continued into 2008.
