The cumulative link to the preseason rankings can be found here.

The San Diego State Aztecs (high = 100, low = 109) had a great run from 2009-2023 under Brady Hoke and Rocky Long, going 121-70 and winning at least a share of 3 Mountain West conference championships and at least a share of 6 division titles. Following Hoke’s retirement after the 2023 season, Sean Lewis stepped in and went 3-9 in his inaugural campaign. Only 52% of the production from that team returns (82nd in the country), almost exclusively on the defensive side of the ball (72%). On offense, starting QB Danny O’Neil (off to Wisconsin), leading receiver Louis Brown IV (off to Colorado State) and 1,000 yard rusher Marquez Cooper (going pro in something other than football?) are all gone. Lewis seems to be building for the long haul, bringing in the 2nd highest recruiting class in the MWC (78th nationally) and the 11th highest in all of the G6 rather than going through the transfer portal (102nd ranked nationally, but is bringing in former CMU QB Bert Emanuel, Jr. - son of the former NFL WR). That makes for the 86th best overall class nationally and 4th in the MWC. With a schedule that includes 4 teams already listed below them plus an FCS buy game, bowling is definitely within reach, and would be a decent springboard into their inaugural Pac-12 campaign, this time for sure!
