The defending Conference USA champion Jacksonville State Gamecocks (high = 90, low = 115) are the next team to check in at #104. And while flags fly forever, the 2025 team will bear little resemblance to that championship team besides wearing the same uniform. Less than 30% of last year’s production will be back in AmFirst stadium this year (among the bottom 5 in all of FBS), nor will Rich Rod be patrolling the sidelines having gone back to WVU. Charles Kelly takes the reins after spending the last 18 years as a P4 assistant, most recently as the DC at Auburn. Kelly’s first year doesn’t necessarily look too promising, having lost starting QB Tyler Huff (only player to throw a TD pass), starting RB Tre Stewart (who combined with Huff for 3,000 yards rushing and 40 rushing TDs) and 14 players to P4 schools in the portal without actually restocking the shelves. With the 112th ranked recruiting class and 113th ranked transfer portal class combining to give the 107th ranked incoming class, the Gamecocks look likely to take a step back, though they do play 7 teams already ranked, so they have a better than fair chance of going bowling in 2025.
