I am a single mother of two daughters. Some years ago i started fostering older teens. My last foster kid was a 15 years old girl who was removed due to abuse. Her case changed and there was no way she would go back to her family.

So after two years with us, we officialy adopted her.

My family is mad. Terribly so. Wondering why i would adopt a child with so many “bagages”, saying that i could damage my bio child. Everytime my pother talk about her, she feel the need to remind everyone that she is adopte. She makes back handed comment about how she grew up, about her difficulties, about her past…

Friends and coworker wonder why i didn’t just adopted a baby, it would be easier and one said “doesn’t a baby deserves a family ?”, doesn’t a teen does ?

Everybody be like “yes to adoption” but change their discourt as soon as the child is older.
