My missus occasionally wants me to spend time with her watching her Netflix slop, so I made an agreement with her that as soon as a character uses the word “gaslight” or “gaslighting”, that I’m leaving the room and pissing off to go do something else with my time.
It’s been a stroke of genius because most modern TV shows can’t go 10 minutes without referring (and usually incorrectly) to gaslighting. I managed to get out watching the new season of ‘You’ quick smart last night which was great.
These writers must think they’re hot shit using such a trendy word but they must be brain-dead to not realise that it’s way overused and cringeworthy.
