Each episode is stand alone (not counting the very recent Callister sequel) so there is not an intensive or grueling schedule that might scare actors off. And they only produce 5 to 6 episodes every one or two years anyway. And if an episode sucks, who cares? It doesn’t reflect on the rest of the series.
Contractual issues are a real thing but, other than that, is there any other reason why the show cant go on indefinitely?
I don’t think they will run out creatively precisely because they only do a handful of episodes every 12 to 24 months. It’ll be another story if that have to produce 15 to 20 episodes every year.
