There is interesting polling that came out a few months ago that really made me think. The poll is here and discusses perceptions of COVID and related risks by party: https://www.brookings.edu/research/how-misinformation-is-distorting-covid-policies-and-behaviors/. This was meant to break out perceptions between the two main parties, so it's obviously not representative of the nation but is interesting.

Example fun facts:

  • 60% of Americans think that there's a >50% you would need to be hospitalized if you contract COVID (actual chance: <5%)
  • Those polled believe about 40% of COVID deaths are from people >65yo (actual: 80% of deaths are from people >65yo)

Kind of made me think... these people apparently have minimal understanding of the world around them. They can't understand risks (although I guess we aren't as bad as Australia locking down the nation over a few hundred cases). They don't look up basic facts.

Yet they want to rule over us. They want their "leader" in power, whoever it is, to rule over all 330 million of us in the US. That's terrifying.
