I (28F) got married last week and it was an incredible day - everything was perfect and everyone had an amazing time. However I went to bed and woke up really upset as my sister (21F) had been really horrible to me, my mum and my other bridesmaids. I think she thinks it was funny, and I’m sure it was just immaturity, but she doesn’t know how much it hurt me and I don’t know what to do.

It was mostly just pulling nasty faces and giving disapproving glances, she said nothing positive on the day, refused to do a speech or any maid of honour duties after asking to be maid of honour, told me that my husbands family (who she just met) like her better than me, telling my mum to stop dancing because she looked stupid, calling my other bridesmaids bitches and glaring at them on the dance floor. We had no congratulations or compliments from her and whenever she came up to me it was only to be horrible about someone else.

While this is behaviour that sounds like a 14 year old, it really disturbed me as every time I tried to have a good time, she would tear me down and tell me that I was being horrible or bossy to people (I wasn’t).

I really don’t know how to move forward as she doesn’t know how much this upset me and she is getting too old for this behaviour to be acceptable. I wanted one nice moment with my sister on my wedding day and I didn’t have a single one. She is now planning on moving to live in the same city as me so I either have to pretend like it never happened, or call her out, and I don’t want to fall out with her.

I only want the best for her but she can’t treat people this way. It’s all I have been able to think about since my wedding day and I just find the whole thing so sad :(
