OMG a a corporation promised to be responsible then did the greedy thing?! Next thing you’ll tell me, the cow goes moo!
Almost all corporations, and all publically traded corporations conduct themselves as amoral sociopaths with the sole goal of profit to the exclusion of all else.
They’ll tell you what benefits them in the moment, in this case getting concerned citizens off their back, and then do what will benefit/profit them the most that they can get away with, or that they can’t get away with but don’t fear the paltry consequences of.
