Recently I left my college town up north and moved back to my hometown in Florida. It wasn’t my choice (it’s a long story,) but I’d just like to share some things with y’all because to say I’m having culture shock is an understatement. This state has completely changed since I was a kid no thanks to the conservative movement and Desantis. Whatever was worth living here is now gone.

Firstly, I am gawked at, catcalled everywhere. And i mean everywhere. You would think these men never saw a woman in their lives, and they don’t even try to hide it. It’s like they don’t care that I can see them. Now, this isn’t abnormal for a woman but I’ve never had it be this bad anywhere I’ve gone, and I’ve been a lot of places since I left town. It is every single time if not every other time. I’ve never had that happen. Even when I dress casually it happens. Also, there are way, way too many dudes who think they are in my league which is both laughable and sad.

Second, the way men talk about women here is absolutely fucking disgusting. I decided to give dating apps a try and boy was that a mistake. Many, many messages with negging/back handed compliments. Alpha bros are everywhere. Andrew tate has fucked these dudes in the head. I had multiple dudes hit me up to collab with them on their OnlyFans, which is apparently a thing people do now (I don’t even have OF, and it was the first thing he said to me.) I mean no offense to people who do OF it’s just not the first thing you say to a woman because that’s fucking weird.

I went to visit some family and I shit you not, they would not let women sit in the front of their cars. I am not kidding. I started noticing every time we got in cars women sat in the back. One day my cousin was nauseous in the back and I suggested she move to the front so she feels better and they were like, “I wouldn’t go that far,” and laughed about it. I was fucking fuming and didn’t talk the rest of the trip. He literally wouldn’t give up his seat to help her because of his stupid fucking masculinity.

His friend also refused to go to a bar we were planning to go to because they found out it was a gay bar. I was like wtf that place looks cool what’s wrong with it? I was ignored, because of course I was.

My father believes abortion is murder now, which he’s never had any opinion about it before. It is a commonly held sentiment here.

If they’re under the age of 30 these dudes have no idea how to talk or interact with women. Like, say what you will about past generations of men and I hate to give them credit but they at least looked like they enjoyed being in the company of women even if they weren’t getting laid. Here, if it doesn’t seem like I’m gonna come over and have sex with them they don’t give a fuck. 0 respect and 0 rizz.

All in all I’m leaving this state when my lease is up and I’m never looking back. Fuck the conservative movement for trying to screw our reproductive rights because legislation impacts culture and this is the result. I don’t even feel human anymore. If you’re a woman or god help you femme person/trans please get out of this state for your own safety and mental health.
