I’ve always wondered if there’s a TV show with really good writing, in terms of story elements like plot, characters, and themes, but suffers from poor episode formatting and I’m not talking about pacing issues either, such as drawn out scenes or arcs, etc. For example, the show could have benefited from ending an episode slightly earlier to take advantage of a cliffhanger rather than adding that one additional scene, or the show could’ve have brought that last part of a season finale in the next season which would’ve made it more engaging, etc.
Not sure if I explained it well, so here’s an analogy: Imagine you have a really long film roll that encompasses a whole tv show from start to finish. The show is well written, with no pacing issues (as mentioned earlier). Cutting the film roll into pieces makes up an episode, so each piece is an episode. Is there a tv show that constantly cuts the film roll at the wrong places?
