Recently, I took an Uber and chatted briefly with the driver. During the ride, he asked if I had Instagram, I said no. Then he asked about Facebook, and again, I said no. Eventually, he inquired if I had a phone number. Since I was in an unfamiliar city and didn’t know anyone there, I felt a bit stuck and had to give him my number.
This kind of situation happens quite often, where someone I’ve just met and had a casual conversation with ends up asking for my number. Sometimes, giving a wrong number isn’t an option because they call you right away to confirm. I don’t want to jeopardize my safety by refusing to give my phone number.
I’m curious to know how others handle this kind of situation and if there are any suggestions you can share.
