24 was peak TV in the early 2000s.

Jack Bauer was the all-American badass on TV, willing to do anything to serve his country. A rogue that America needed, not the one we deserved. That kind of thing.

I saw it, and currently see it, as action movie entertainment.

But it’s interesting to see this post-9/11 attitude in current day.

Would this show work today? What would people discovering it on streaming in current day think of it?

It’s impossible to not acknowledge how popular 24 was at its time, and even controversial for its depictions of violence on network TV.

There was even a moment in time post-9/11 where “Jack Bauer Syndrome” was even floated as a medical/psychological diagnosis for people in combat dealing with real-world terrorism.
