I’ve seen a couple of behind the scenes videos talking about how single camera is more difficult than the “4 camera” multi camera style of CBS level comedies like big bang theory and 2.5 men. Which was how most sitcom shows were done for decades. So that much I know.
But I’m wondering if the mockumentary format, with its shaky cam, is easier to do than single camera format, or if it’s just a stylist choice by show runners to have that camera format. I love a ton of comedy shows that happen to use that format, but I love them despite the shaky cam which I find quite bothersome, not because of it. I actually would prefer them as normal single camera format.
So just wondering if perhaps it is less difficult to set up, since I still see shows use it to this day, like the wonderful Abbott Elementary
