I live in an apartment complex with a large pool area where I spend a lot of my time. Yesterday a drunk man at the pool would not stop hovering, staring, and trying to talk to me and a few other women. We were just trying to sunbathe and mind our own business.
He moved across the pool to sit directly in front of us and disregarded our constant requests for him to please leave us alone. He was clearly super intoxicated and didn’t seem to comprehend (or give a shit) what we were saying. Several other women checked in with us and tried to help. We threatened to call security and he said “bitch, I don’t give a shit” to me. Shortly after that, another man stepped in and told him to leave, and he finally did.
Today I reported him to the building administration and the woman who took my report was so receptive to my concerns and took it very seriously. She said she’s proud of me and the other women for standing together to support one another.
At first I was feeling a lot of guilt about the situation, like does he deserve to be reported? Should we have just moved to another spot to avoid him? Somehow trying to justify his actions. But I’m glad I did it, because we SHOULDNT HAVE TO relocate to avoid harassment. And I’m incredibly proud of the women around me that stood in solidarity despite being complete strangers.
Strength in numbers, ladies! We have no room for creeps here. They should be called out and they should be afraid. 💅🏼✨
