I started watching in 1996, when Arizona State went undefeated with Jake Plummer before losing in the Rose Bowl. I thought Arizona State was THE team to beat in college football. When Florida won the national title, I was like “Well that’s cause they didn’t play Arizona State!” And I remember getting the Sports Illustrated College Football preview magazine for the 1997 season and being like “why is Arizona State ranked so low??”
I had no context. I thought 1996 was a normal season for them lol
