We’ve all heard of how badly Jon Robinson did towards the end of his tenure, with the AJ Brown trade immediately jumping to mind. However, that just revealed all the rot that had seeped into the team over the years, especially with how bad the drafting has been. Let’s take a look at where they are now.
2020
Round 1: OT Isaiah Wilson. UrinatingTree made an entire video calling him the worst ever draft pick. Enough said.
Round 2: CB Kristian Fulton. Had a good 2021 season before injuries and poor play sent him out of town to the Chargers. He just signed a 2 year pact with Kansas City, but he’s a guy you can’t really rely on. Maybe Spags can help him return to 2021 form.
Round 3: RB Darrynton Evans. Constantly hurt here, and hasn’t topped 250 rushing yards in a single season. Now on his 4th team
Round 5: DT Larell Murchinson. Backup DT here and in LA
Round 7: QB Cole McDonald. Cut in training camp and bounced around the CFL and UFL the last several years.
Round 7: S Chris Jackson. Practice squad safety. Currently plays for the Birmingham Stallions in the UFL
2021
Round 1: CB Caleb Farley. The poor guy’s been through a lot in his career between health and personal tragedies. When he saw the field, the results were awful. He was cut and is currently on the Panthers.
Round 2: OT Dillon Radunz. Kept getting shuffled on the line and never got a chance to settle. Was an okay guard to end it, but there’s not much to write home about him.
Round 3: DB Elijah Molden. We’ll always have this. After that, he’s been a solid player in the Chargers’ defense and merely a backup in the Titans’ system. He just signed a multi-year extension with the Bolts, so he’s found a place in the league
Round 3: LB Monty Rice. Had a few decent games, but really fell off and was waived in 2023. He’s on his 4th team, having bounced around practice squads and active rosters.
Round 4: WR Dez Fitzpatrick. Amon-Ra St. Brown was right there, you dumbasses! Instead of getting a running mate for AJ Brown when he was still here, we traded up past the Lions for a guy with 5 catches in his career and 49 yards. All over a senior day performance. Robinson, you arrogant fucking idiot. The guy has bounced between the practice squad and active roster in Pittsburgh and the Chargers instead. If there was ever a time to get pissy about a Day 3 trade, here you go. St. Brown has as many career All-Pros and Pro Bowl nods combined as Dez has receptions.
Round 4: DE Rashad Weaver. Woman beater and career practice squad guy. Only 24 career pressures and only got extensive playing time when Harold Landry and Denico Autry were hurt in 2022.
Round 6: WR Racey McMath. 4 career catches for 48 yards. Bounced to the Colts and Cowboys’ practice squads. He currently plays in the UFL for San Antonio.
Round 6: DB Brady Breeze. Bounced around 5 teams before going to the UFL and being cut by the Renegades. Just another guy.
The draft isn’t easy, and even good organizations can have bad draft classes (e.g. 2019 Ravens draft class). However, when you keep fumbling the bag on drafts, you quickly fall from consistent playoff team with a decent-ish shot at a ring to a bad team. Pair that with bad free agency moves and trades, and you become one of the biggest laughing stocks in the NFL.
