I get nostalgic about sports often, from watching the NFL and NBA a lot as a kid in the 90s and a teen in the 2000s. Not just for my own teams, but even seasons of others teams that I followed as well.

There’s certain years though that really stand out for me in particular. For example, 1998 was the first year I truly followed the season from preseason to the Super Bowl, rather than just watching passively with my friends or family members. That year was when John Elway had his last hurrah, the Brett Farve Packers were still at their peak, the 90s powerhouse NFC teams the 49ers & Cowboys were starting to rapidly decline, the Dungy Bucs were ascending, the year of the Dirty Bird dance for the Chris Chandler/Jamal Anderson Falcons and the high scoring Vikings with Moss and Carter were all rage.

Those 98 Vikings were probably my favorite team to follow besides my Marino/Jimmy Johnson fueding Dolphins that year. And probably one of my most memorable teams of all time that I’ll never forget, despite coming up short in the NFC Championship game. Randall Cunningham having a resurgence, Robert Smith a smart and effective RB who could also catch, Carter and Moss flying up and down the sidelines with those circus catches, those depth guys who were also pretty good in Matthew Hatchett and Jake Reed, that D with John Randle, Ed McDaniel, Robert Griffith and Orlando Thomas.

For me, they will always go down as the best team I’ve seen that didn’t win it all (next to the 2007 Patriots).

Do any of you have any nostalgia for any particular seasons for your team or other teams?
