I’m a physician who has been a faculty member at a B12 school’s primary medical center for over five years. The concept that conference affiliation plays a role in research has literally never once been an issue in my own personal experience, and I’ve collaborated with colleagues at other university medical centers in various conferences(B12/B1G/Ivy) many times on various studies. Is this actually a thing in non-clinical medicine research or just some talking point that the media brings up during conference realignment based solely on “academic reputation” of who the schools happen to play sports with?
