Today I had one of those wretched days where my period came early. I actually think it might be withdrawal bleeding from taking my progestogen-only pill, which can throw cycles out of whack. Regardless, blood was coming out of me unexpectedly, so it’s not very fun.

Me, being the idiot that I was, left the house this morning without underwear, which has hardly been a problem for me in the past. Well, today that gush of blood that lets you know shit’s going down made my soul leave my body. I rushed to my sister’s apartment, which was on the same route as where I was heading to anyway. I needed to fix the mess before things got worse. She didn’t have any unopened packs of underwear and there were no local stores nearby that sold them. Instead, she jokingly suggested that I try wearing a diaper (she has two small children so has tons of them). I was desperate at that point, so I tried it and it fit! Bear in mind, the diaper was made for 1-2 year olds weighing 15kg (33lbs).

I’m actually surprised at how comfortable diapers are. Like, I wouldn’t wear them generally, but they are so secure and made me forget that I was even on my period lol. I ordered myself period underwear which is meant to have a similar effect, but man, I was shocked how great diapers are. Adult diapers should be mainstream and not mainly sold online.

Anyway, I’ve learned my lesson in keeping organised for these situations. Never trust your cycle on the pill.

Feel free to share any embarrassing/awkward/funny period-related moments you’ve had.
