So Reddit put me onto this weird fucking show. It’s so brutal, compelling, and interesting. I don’t even like a lot of what happens lmao but I can’t stop watching.

That said, I love how affectionate this show is. When the characters are close with each other, even in a platonic or familial sense, they’re very visual with it. Lots of forehead and cheek kisses, hand-grabbing, and very very tight hugs. They always take a beat to show physical touch, and emphasize affection, even with the really violent characters. It really helps neutralize some of the violence and makes the characters seem exceptionally close.

I’m demi/asexual so sex scenes don’t do anything for me, and I feel like a lot of modern shows really only show a characters’ closeness through sex. The way intimacy is portrayed as more than just sex in this show really resonates with me.

That said I’m not sure I’d recommend this show to everyone cuz fuck, it’s a lot and goes into a lot of disturbing territory lmao. Christopher Eccleston is currently going through THE MOST rn 😭 but did anyone else have any attachments to the way they show physical touch?
