Im very aware that the show has 2 episodes left but I don’t think that excuses what, to me, has kinda felt like a bit of a slog of a season.
In 8 episodes so far arguably 5 of them have been outside the norm. An episode spent entirely on innies, an episode emtirely on outies, an episode set entirely out of the norm in the forest, an episode consisting of a character we haven’t seen much and flashbacks and now todays episode. There has been so little progression of anything so far. I’m all for a slow burn but it almost feels like they’re actively withholding information now just because they don’t want to reveal their hand too early.
I think we all thought things will kick off after the Season 1 finale. They really didn’t. I think we all thought again after Mark reintegrated but again they didn’t. In fact it will now be 6 episodes later since that cliffhanger and they’ve done nothing with it. And again with the Gemma episode I thought oh we are going to learn a lot this episode but aside from a couple of small things nothing was really revealed. And now this episode, oh a whole episode of Harmony? That should reveal a lot. Actually it’s just going to be extremely slow until a few things are mentioned right at the end and just as we ramp up, we end.
There’s been a real lack of urgency and pace this season. Everything feels way more slow and artistic, it’s like they forgot the first season had some energy to it. None of the plots have really advanced at all. People were praising the show when Mark reintergrated for having the balls to do it in ep 3 but they’ve done nothing with it that we didn’t see with Petey.
There’s also the issue of characters starting to do dumb things or things happening that are never explained. You will never convince me in a million years that Devon and Mark would be attempting Ms Cobel that many times, how and why do they think the person who duped them both, works high up for Lumon, thought they stole the damn baby and knew Gemma was alive is the one to go to? Why did Ms Cobel decide the complain about no credit to was the women she is about to leave and will no doubt call the Eagan’s after she leaves, also handing her the papers in front of a fire? Why did episode 4 happen at all? Why did Lumon ‘reward’ the most behaved and notroriously rebellious group with the opportunity to sleep and dream which raises so many more questions and issues?
Am I the only one who feels this way on here? I just feel like unless the last two episodes are both of the level of the Season 1s finale, this season has been really dragging things out.
