I can’t get enough of it. It’s amazing. I’m 31 and I realized I’ve been watching everything Joel McHale has been in for like 17 years since The Soup.
His character, Frank is kind of like Jeff Winger from Community in terms of quick wit, sass and arrogance, he acts like the he’s all that, but he’s an ex-family business cop who got fired for exposing corruption, was abused by his dad and harassed by his asshole cop brother (Thomas Lennon)
But he’s actually a depressed softie who has a cat and likes gardening, and has a crush on his coworker from New Zealand. But I don’t think he knows it. She’s got intimacy issues too but she roast him every second she gets, and is the only one who can calm him down.
There’s an ex Olympic skateboarder rookie, an overachieving nervous mess of a boss and a guy who has way too many kids and just wants to get out of the house.
Fox barely promotes it. Like they’ll give you a trailer at the beginning of the season and that’s it. Like I don’t even know if they do the thing where they show you a promo for next week after an episode.
One of my favorite things about the show is that as often as they can use a trainable wranglable animal actor, But some animals are uncanny Valley CGI and sometimes for stunts they will use what is obviously a stuffed animal. And it’s so funny because they just embrace it.
Yeah it’s not the office and it’s not Abbott elementary or even community but it’s got so much heart and I really can’t stand to see it get canceled. Tonight is the second to last episode of the season.
Also if you need another will-they-won’t-they ship this show has you covered
9/8 Central Thursdays also Hulu next day. I promise I don’t work for this TV show.
