Most shows these days jump back and forth between a primary plot and various subplots. For example, on a typical detective show there will be a main crime that the principal stars of the series are trying to solve, but there will often be a minor crime that lesser characters are dealing with and then there will also be one or more personal relationship storylines going on. Are there some shows (past or present) that were successful without plot switching throughout the course of the hour or half hour weekly show?
