For me it’s Nebraska-Iowa (or really any of Nebraska’s Big10 games for that matter). I grew up a Husker fan on the border of both states in Omaha and Carter Lake, IA, so I remember interacting with Hawkeye fans on a daily basis. They loved to trash talk Nebraska and seemed to relish in the program’s downward spiral. I don’t like losing to Iowa, but otherwise I don’t have any negative feelings towards the program. They don’t rise to the level of a historic adversary like Oklahoma nor do I I feel hatred towards them like Colorado. If anything, I’d be more interested in a game with Mizzou than with Iowa.
I’d probably put even less stock into the trophy game with Wisconsin (partially because it’s been so one-sided 😢), but also because there’s even less natural inclination for a game of meaning between the two programs. So what are some other examples of forced, fake or even one-sided rivalries for y’all’s favorite programs??
